This bee fly specimen is the holotype for the species "Palirika culgoafloodplainensis". A holotype is the single type specimen up on which the description and name of a new species is based. The particular specimen was collected from the Culgoa Floodplain in Queensland. The place name has been incorporated into the new species name.
