Description
This bird specimen is a syntype for the species "Parotia lawesii helenae". A syntype is a specimen in a series or collection of specimens upon wich the description and name of a new species is based, where there is no designated holotype.

This bird is found primarily on Papua New Guinea and is part of the bird-of-paradise family. It is known as Lawe's Parotia, and this is reflected in its species name.
