Description
This bird specimen is a syntype for the species "Paradisaea raggiana intermedia". A syntype is a specimen in a series or collection of specimens upon wich the description and name of a new species is based, where there is no designated holotype.

This bird is found on Papua New Guinea. It is commonly known as the "Raggiana Bird-of-paradise". Its name is a commemorative gesture toward Marquis Francis Raggi of Genoa.
